Description

Web Host Manager is a complete hosting automation and infrastructure management platform built as an alternative to WHMCS . From a single dashboard it handles the full lifecycle of a hosting business: client management, service provisioning, virtualization, billing, domain management, and payment processing.

Built with Laravel on the backend and React.js on the frontend , it pairs a scalable API-driven architecture with a modern admin interface, and integrates directly with cPanel, Proxmox , LXD , domain registrars, and payment gateways to automate day-to-day operations.

Background

Hosting providers juggle several disconnected systems: a control panel for accounts, a hypervisor for VMs and containers, a registrar for domains, and separate billing and payment tools. Stitching these together manually is slow and error-prone. Web Host Manager was built to consolidate those workflows into one platform, using WHMCS as the reference point for what a mature hosting management system should do.

How to Run

Technical Decisions

• Laravel + React split — a Laravel API backend keeps provisioning logic and integrations server-side, while React delivers a fast, interactive dashboard without coupling UI to server rendering.
• Adapter-based integrations — cPanel, Proxmox, LXD, registrars, and gateways sit behind consistent service classes, so new providers can be added without touching core workflows.
• Queued automation — provisioning, suspension, and billing jobs run asynchronously to keep long-running API calls off the request cycle and make retries safe.

What I Learned

• Designing an abstraction layer that hides differences between cPanel, Proxmox, and LXD.
• Building reliable, idempotent automation with queues and retries.
• Modeling billing states (invoices, subscriptions, suspension, termination) cleanly.
• Coordinating a Laravel API with a React SPA in one project.

Notes

Built as a WHMCS alternative for hosting providers. The integration layer is modular, so additional registrars and payment gateways can be added incrementally. Future directions include reseller support and a customer-facing client portal. MIT License © 2026 FannyDevz.
